PENNY DRIVE AT
ST MARGARET SCHOOL
As we are all aware, the penny (0.01) in Canada is no longer in circulation. We are having a fundraiser at school involving those little copper pieces for a PENNY DRIVE. We are encouraging the students to bring their unwanted pennies to school. We will collect them and donate them to Habitat for Humanity. We will be starting this on Monday next week. There is a little friendly competition involved as well. At school the students are divided into color groups. So, when/if your child brings pennies to school, it will go into their bucket color. If you have more than one child, and they are not in the same color group, you may want to split their pennies up and send them in two bags. You do NOT have to do this. It is only an idea. Thank you again for your support and cooperation.

Notes for today:
It is awesome having the students back in the class. We are starting another unit in math - "Measure". We are getting ready for report cards and so there will be notes coming home for that in the next little while. There are also Scholastic notes and order forms coming this week. The due date on that is March 21st.
There is also a poem I sent home with your children at the beginning of February. It's called "Mon bonheur". It has a picture of a tree and some clouds on it. It is to be learned by heart. We will be presenting this poem to judges on Thursday next week (March 7th). If you need another copy, please let me know and I will either email it to you or I can send you a hard copy. Please let me know if you have received this email as some of them are going to "junk" email. I am not sure why this is happening, it just is. Thank you and have a great week.
My homework for the week:
When studying for dictee tests and pratice tests, please make sure your child is writing the small letters where there are small letters and capitals where there are capitals. If they put one in the place of the other, it will be a mistake on their test.
- We are working on a writing portfolio at school. If your child is writing stories at home, please feel free to send them to school and we will insert it in the portfolio.
Mathematiques:
- You can use the plastic sheet and marker from the mad minutes duo tang to practice. Please try to get some done at least 2-3 times per week. Weekend count too.
- EVERY CHILD NEEDS TO PRACTICE THEIR NUMBERS FROM 1-200 BY NOW. WE ARE WORKING ON THIS IN CLASS
- PLEASE PRACTICE THESE AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. THANK YOU! THEY SHOULD BE PRACTICING TELLING YOU WHAT EACH NUMBER IS IN FRENCH.
Scholastic News
We are asking that the new orders gone out today be returned by no later than March 21. Thank you!
